ODOT I-90 Westbound & Eastbound Bridge - Transportation
ODOT I-90 Westbound & Eastbound Bridge
The project includes demolition of the existing steel truss bridge that opened in 1959 and construction of new westbound and eastbound bridges. GSI is currently serving as Project Controls Consultant for the Ohio Department of Transportation. This multi-phase project consists of the reconstruction of the highways in and around the Central Business District of Cleveland, Ohio, commonly referred to as the Innerbelt.
This project is using the design-build process to construct the new bridge system over the Cuyahoga River Valley, which will accommodate six lanes of bi-directional traffic on opening day and five lanes of traffic westbound through traffic following future Innerbelt Construction Contracts.
The project includes the reconstruction of numerous ramps, associated bridges, as well as utilities, landscaping, sidewalks, and aesthetic enhancements. The Design-Build Team began work in 2010, operating with a budget of $290 million and completed the westbound project in 2014. The eastbound bridge (Phase II) is expected to be complete in 2017.
