The Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Tank No. 2 project is located in the Southeastern section of Akron. The CSX Railroad borders the eastern side of this industrial area. The 3.8 million gallon facility was originally constructed in 1983. The tank consists of three interconnected compartments and internally measures 187 feet on a side. The project included the following:

  • Disposal Screening
  • Pump Equipment
  • Electrical Power
  • Ventilation
  • Site Work
  • Structural Repairs
  • Wash Down System
  • Bypass Pumping
  • Natural Lighting System

The services provided by GSI included Project Management, Construction Management, and Inspections. In managing the project for the City of Akron, GSI tracked and managed the daily field reports, submittal logs, RFI logs, and RFP logs. GSI was also responsible for monitoring and controlling the budget, schedule and performance. GSI provided inspection and documentation of all aspects of construction, in accordance with the plans and specifications. Activities included conducting the Pre-construction and Progress Meetings, providing documentation and monitoring the contractor’s work progress, processing and tracking all shop drawings and submittals, assisting the City in monitoring all payroll and pay estimates and assisting the City in monitoring MBE and WBE requirements.
